Honeycomb Trellis

A new stitch pattern I discovered today—honeycomb trellis! Follow the written instructions at the bottom of this post to try it out!

As usual for me when crocheting, I happened upon this stitch pattern by mistake.  When I start a project, I almost always come up with something different than I’d originally planned. This stitch pattern was no different. When I started, I was experimenting with long chain loops. I didn’t know that it would turn into lacy hexagons!

It’s amazing the different effects you can get with different yarns. The orange swatch is made with a cotton/acrylic blend. As you can see, the hexagons aren’t as defined. Even after blocking, it simply doesn’t stretch a lot.

However, the two blue swatches are made with wool. When blocked, they stretch out beautifully, and you can clearly see the hexagons clearly.

As you can see, different yarns give different effects. Experiment to see what you like best!
