This stitch was inspired by the windows of a great cathedral. There is something so majestic about cathedrals.

I also wanted to create some stitches to represent Easter, and I figured cathedrals, churches of old, were the perfect start. Be on the lookout for other Easter-inspired stitches coming out in the next few weeks!

How to Crochet the Cathedral Stitch

Notes

• Stitch Pattern is a multiple of 6+3
• Ch 3 at beginning of rows counts as dc

Materials

You can potentially use any yarn and hook for this stitch. However, here is what I used:

• Red Heart Super Saver Yarn
• H/8 Crochet Hook

Instructions

Fsc a multiple of 6+3 (to start with a chain stitch, you will need a multiple of 6 + 4, and then a row of single crochet).

Row 1: Ch 3 (counts as dc, here and throughout) dc in next fsc. Sk 2 fsc, 3 dc in next fsc. *Ch 3, sk 2 fsc, sc in next fsc. Ch 3, sk 2 fsc, 3 dc in next fsc. Rep from * until 4 sts left. Sk 2 fsc, dc in last 2 fsc. Turn.

Row 2: Ch 3, sk next dc, 2 dc in next dc. Dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc. *Ch 2, sc in next sc. Ch 2, 2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc. Rep from * across, till 2 dc left. Sk next dc, dc in last dc. Turn.

Row 6: Ch 1, sc in first 2 sts. Ch 2, sk next ch spaces and sc. *Sc in next 5 dc. Ch 2, sk next ch spaces and sc. Rep from * till 2 sts left. Sc in last 2 dc. Turn.

Row 7: Ch 3, dc in next dc. 3 dc in next ch-2 sp. *Ch 3, sk 2 sc, sc in next sc. Ch 3, sk 2 sc, 3 dc in next ch-2 sp. Rep from * till 2 sts left. Dc in last 2 sc. Turn.
