Ultimate List of Unique Crochet Stitches (over 40 free patterns!)

Looking for unique crochet stitches? I’ve got you covered! This list of over 40 stitches includes beautiful lace, bobbles, puff stitches, and lots more!

Sometimes you just need a new crochet stitch to learn, am I right?

There’s lots of stitches out there, but maybe when you search on google or pinterest you always seem to see the same old ones.

Well, I felt that way too. And since I love crochet stitches so much, I decided I needed to create some NEW, UNIQUE ones!

So that’s what I did. On this page, you can find over 40 (and nearly 50) unique crochet stitches that are sure to help you find something new.

What crochet stitches will I find here?

A whole lot of different types! Here’s a quick bullet list so you can see what I mean:

  • Decorative crochet stitches. A lot of the stitches included here are pretty, perfect for lots of different types of decorative crochet.
  • Lots of crochet lace stitches. I LOVE crochet lace. It is my absolute favorite, so I have included a whole lot of those types of stitches here.
  • Textured crochet stitches. There’s just something about crochet texture, you know? I could call this an “ultimate list” without including some texture.
  • Even some weird and funky crochet stitches! 😜 What do I mean by this? Well, with some of these stitches my imagination just ran wild! I had an idea that was kinda weird, but I just went for it. Hopefully you love them!

Categorizing these crochet stitches

Now, when I thought about how I wanted to structure this post and all the different stitches, I did something kind of unique.

See, there are 48 stitch patterns in the list, but it would be a lot to scroll through all those without organizing them in some way!

SO: because of that, I have broken up the stitches into groups of 4. Each group of 4 stitches will be centered around a certain theme.

For example, one of the themes is “Unique Puff Stitches.” Another theme is “Easter crochet stitches.”

Some of the themes are based around a certain type of stitch, while others are based around a holiday or time of year.

There is one more thing you absolutely have to know before we dive into the ultimate list of stitches. There will be options for you to buy different PDF bundles of the stitches so you can download them and print them out for easier viewing!

There are two different options you have when it comes to this:

  1. There are PDFs available for $3.50 each that include each set of “themed” stitches. Links to these will be included in the list under each theme.
  2. OR, you can buy one big bundle of ALL the stitches!

The second option is also known as the Desert Blossom Stitch Dictionary, since it includes all of my crochet stitches.

If you want to skip all the ads, navigating multiple blog posts, etc., this might be the perfect option for you. To get more info, just click the button below.

1. Wintery Crochet Bobble Stitches

The first set of themed stitches was released in the month of January, so I used all blues for the stitches in order to convey a wintery feel. Just to avoid any confusion, please note that I call these bobble stitches, because when I released them I didn’t know that the technical term was puff stitches.

#1: Blue Frost Stitch

Our very first featured stitch in the list! The Blue Frost stitch alternates rows of puff stitches with rows of a crochet stitch that looks like knitting.

#2: Blueberry Stitch

The Blueberry stitch has been one of the post popular crochet stitches on my blog. It uses puff stitches alternated with simple double crochet to create an all-over blueberry effect!

Desert Blossom Stitch Along

Stitch #3: Snowball Stitch

If we’re talking about winter and “bumpy” type stitches, I simply had to create one that looks like snowballs! The Snowball Stitch stacks mini puff stitches on top of each other, almost as if they’re lined up for a snowball fight!

Desert Blossom Stitch Along

Stitch #4: Flurry Stitch

Last but not least in this set of themed stitches, we have the Flurry Stitch. This one uses the mini puff stitch again, long with v-stitches. They are alternated across each row in order to get the look of a crocheted blizzard!
