<span id="more-2975"></span>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" width="336" height="576" src="https://desertblossomcrafts.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/how-to-crochet-the-extended-single-crochet-stitch2.png" alt="How to the Crochet the Extended Single Crochet Stitch" class="wp-image-3013" srcset="https://desertblossomcrafts.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/how-to-crochet-the-extended-single-crochet-stitch2.png 336w, https://desertblossomcrafts.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/how-to-crochet-the-extended-single-crochet-stitch2-175x300.png 175w" sizes="(max-width: 336px) 100vw, 336px" /></figure>

<p>Another color-work stitch! Color work can be both exciting but also scary. I promise, this stitch makes it very simple. It uses the same technique as the <a href="https://desertblossomcrafts.com/?p=2948" data-lasso-id="1906">Americana Stitch</a>, which was the first stitch released in July! </p>

<p>The Extended single crochet stitch is made up entirely of single crochet (in case you couldn&#8217;t tell by the name <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f606.png" alt="😆" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" />) but it uses a special kind of single crochet—an extended version. </p>

<p>Follow the tutorial in the pattern to see how to work this stitch! </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img decoding="async" width="456" height="608" src="https://desertblossomcrafts.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/extended-single-crochet-stitch-7.jpg" alt="How to the Crochet the Extended Single Crochet Stitch" class="wp-image-3015" srcset="https://desertblossomcrafts.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/extended-single-crochet-stitch-7.jpg 456w, https://desertblossomcrafts.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/extended-single-crochet-stitch-7-225x300.jpg 225w" sizes="(max-width: 456px) 100vw, 456px" /></figure>

<p> If you haven&#8217;t joined my <a href="https://desertblossomcrafts.com/desert-blossom-stitch-along-48-free-crochet-stitches/" data-lasso-id="1907">Stitch Along</a> yet, it&#8217;s not too late! I&#8217;m releasing 4 stitch patterns per month, but you can jump in at any time! Be sure to join the Stitch Along community in my Facebook group <a href="https://www.facebook.com/groups/268012777342966/" data-lasso-id="1909">HERE.</a> Or <a href="http://www.instagram.com/desertblossomcrafts" data-lasso-id="1911"> follow me on Instagram</a> to see new stitches there. </p>

<p>You can also view the master list of stitches that have been released so far by clicking <a href="https://desertblossomcrafts.com/?page_id=2279" data-lasso-id="1912">HERE!</a> There are definitely some more cool ones you will want to check out. </p>

<p>Last thing before we get started on this stitch: I created&nbsp;a bundle of 4 stitch patterns on Etsy which can be found&nbsp;<a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/677890375/july-stitch-along-bundlecrochet-stitch?ref=shop_home_active_1" data-lasso-id="1913">here.</a>&nbsp;Included is the Extended Single Crochet Stitch, plus 3 OTHER stitch patterns (all of the ones that will be released in July!) The stitches are written out for easy printing. Find this bundle&nbsp;<a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/677890375/july-stitch-along-bundlecrochet-stitch?ref=shop_home_active_1" data-lasso-id="1914">HERE!</a></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img decoding="async" width="456" height="608" src="https://desertblossomcrafts.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/extended-single-crochet-stitch-10.jpg" alt="How to the Crochet the Extended Single Crochet Stitch" class="wp-image-3016" srcset="https://desertblossomcrafts.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/extended-single-crochet-stitch-10.jpg 456w, https://desertblossomcrafts.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/extended-single-crochet-stitch-10-225x300.jpg 225w" sizes="(max-width: 456px) 100vw, 456px" /><figcaption>Other stitches included in the bundle! </figcaption></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Notes</h3>

<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>Stitch pattern is a multiple of 3+2</li><li>Ch 1 at beginning of rows does NOT count as st</li><li>This stitch changes color each row. See tutorial for how to transition</li><li>Be sure to carry unused colors throughout rows. This way you will not have a ton of ends to weave in at the end! </li></ul>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Materials</h3>

<p>You can potentially use ANY yarn and hook for this stitch. However, here&#8217;s what I used: </p>
