<span id="more-2570"></span>

<p>One of my favorite things about crochet is the beauty and intricacy you can create combining different shell and fan stitches. </p>

<p>Today&#8217;s stitch is a configuration of smaller fan stitches alternated with double crochets; I just love the way it turned out!</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" width="768" height="1024" src="https://desertblossomcrafts.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/interlocking-fan-stitch-close-up-6-768x1024.jpg" alt="How to Crochet the Interlocking Fan Stitch" class="wp-image-8774" srcset="https://desertblossomcrafts.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/interlocking-fan-stitch-close-up-6-768x1024.jpg 768w, https://desertblossomcrafts.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/interlocking-fan-stitch-close-up-6-225x300.jpg 225w, https://desertblossomcrafts.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/interlocking-fan-stitch-close-up-6-1152x1536.jpg 1152w, https://desertblossomcrafts.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/interlocking-fan-stitch-close-up-6-1536x2048.jpg 1536w, https://desertblossomcrafts.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/interlocking-fan-stitch-close-up-6-scaled.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px" /></figure>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How do you crochet a fan stitch?</h2>

<p>Fan stitches are very similar to <a href="https://desertblossomcrafts.com/how-to-crochet-the-classic-shell-stitch/" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-lasso-id="1540">shell stitches.</a> Generally, they are made by working multiple double crochets into a single stitch. They often have chains between the double crochet incorporated in as well. There are many different variations of fan stitches, and some can be VERY large! However, in this post today we&#8217;ll be learning a <strong>smaller fan stitch.</strong></p>

<figure class="wp-block-image"><img decoding="async" width="336" height="576" src="https://desertblossomcrafts.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/how-to-crochet-the-interlocking-fan-stitch—free-crochet-pattern.png" alt="How to crochet the interlocking fan stitch—free crochet pattern" class="wp-image-2571" srcset="https://desertblossomcrafts.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/how-to-crochet-the-interlocking-fan-stitch—free-crochet-pattern.png 336w, https://desertblossomcrafts.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/how-to-crochet-the-interlocking-fan-stitch—free-crochet-pattern-175x300.png 175w" sizes="(max-width: 336px) 100vw, 336px" /></figure>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">This this fan stitch beginner friendly?</h2>

<p>Absolutely, yes! This crochet fan stitch is super easy to make, as it only uses double crochets and chains. Don&#8217;t be scared off by its intricate look! We will simply be alternating fan stitches and double crochet across rows. </p>

<p>If you have any trouble at all, you can simply watch the video tutorial below! </p>

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/jy5r1rGm874" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen="" class=""></iframe>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">More Unique Stitch Patterns</h3>

<p>I&#8217;ll walk you through this stitch soon, but make sure you check out my <a href="https://desertblossomcrafts.com/desert-blossom-stitch-along/" data-lasso-id="1541">other stitch tutorials</a> as well! There&#8217;s a multiple of lacy stitches that include more shells and fans. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="341" src="https://desertblossomcrafts.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Stitch-collage-1024x341.png" alt="" class="wp-image-8681" srcset="https://desertblossomcrafts.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Stitch-collage-1024x341.png 1024w, https://desertblossomcrafts.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Stitch-collage-300x100.png 300w, https://desertblossomcrafts.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Stitch-collage-768x256.png 768w, https://desertblossomcrafts.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Stitch-collage-1536x512.png 1536w, https://desertblossomcrafts.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Stitch-collage.png 1875w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Make a Fan Stitch Crochet Blanket</h2>

<p>Maybe you&#8217;re wondering if you can make this stitch into a blanket&#8230;if you want to do that, it is totally possible!</p>

<p>All you need to do to make a fan stitch crochet blanket is follow the multiple provided in the <strong>notes section.</strong> You can literally make a foundation row that is as big as you want your blanket to be based on that multiple! Then, simply repeat the stitch pattern until you get the length you want.</p>

<p>See? Easy as pie!</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Get This Stitch Ad-Free</h3>

<p> Last thing before we get started on this stitch: If you want to download and print this pattern ad-free, I created&nbsp;a bundle of 4 Spring stitch patterns on Etsy which can be found&nbsp;<a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/656913282/april-stitch-along-bundlecrochet-stitch?ref=shop_home_active_2" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-lasso-id="1546">here.</a>&nbsp;Included is the Interlocking Fan Stitch, plus 3 OTHER lace stitch patterns! The stitches are written out for easy printing.</p>
