I  just couldn’t resist naming this stitch the Mayberry Stitch. After all, it’s May, and the little bobbles look like berries! Haha.

I do love this stitch, because it gives you an awesome texture without getting too bulky.

How to Crochet the Mayberry Stitch

Notes

• Stitch Pattern is a multiple of 2+1
• Ch 1 at beginning of row does NOT count as sc
• Ch 2 at beginning of row does NOT count as hdc

Special Stitch

Bobble: Insert hook into indicated stitch. YO, draw up loop. YO, insert hook into same stitch. YO, pull up loop. YO, draw through 4 loops on hook.

Materials:

You can potentially use any yarn and hook for this stitch. However, here is what I used:

• Red Heart Super Saver Yarn
• H/8 Crochet Hook

1/ Wintergreen Cowl2/ Lattice Stitch3/ Angelica Cardigan

Instructions:

Fsc a multiple of 2+1 (to start with a chain stitch, you will need a multiple of 2, and then a row of single crochet).

Row 1: Ch 2 (does NOT count as hdc, here and throughout) Hdc in FIRST fsc (do not skip one like you would if the ch 2 counted as a stitch). *Sk 1 fsc, 2 hdc in next fsc. Rep from * all across row. Turn.

Row 2: Ch 1 (does NOT count as sc, here and throughout) sc in first 2 hdc. Bobble in next st. *Sc in next st, bobble in next st. Rep from * until 2 sts left. Sc in last 2 sts. Turn. NOTE that you will not do any sc in the beginning ch 2 from Row 1 since that is not counted a stitch.
