The last stitch for September…let’s learn together how to crochet the Windowpane Stitch! Read on to find out the unique way this stitch forms…I know it looks similar to the Waffle Stitch, but don’t worry, it is actually very different!

As mentioned, I know at first glance this stitch looks like the Waffle Stitch. HOWEVER, don’t worry! Although it looks similar, is is made in a different way. While the Waffle stitch uses fpdc or fptr to create the “squares”, this stitch uses fpsc and regular dc! Also, the backside looks very different from the back of the waffle stitch. Intrigued yet? Read on to find out more about the Windowpane stitch and how to make it!

I first made this stitch as I was experimenting with post stitch single crochet. This isn’t a stitch you see as often—usually, people use the front post double or triple crochet. However, the fpsc can be useful at times too! It is made in the exact same way as any other post stitch. You simply work a sc, but around the post of a stitch rather than the top loops. Don’t worry, it’s not hard!

Want to print this pattern easily? There is an option besides just viewing it here, and it comes with more stitch patterns! The PDF version of this stitch pattern includes all the other stitches in September—it can be found HERE. This PDF is inexpensive and ad-free.

Also, in case you haven’t heard…this stitch is apart of the Desert Blossom Stitch Along, which is running throughout all of 2019! We are more than halfway through the year, but you can still jump in now if you’d like to! Be sure to view the master list of stitches released so far HERE, or join the community in my Facebook Group HERE.
