I actually first made this shawl a long time ago. Back when I first started designing! I loved how the shawl turned out, but I never wrote down the pattern. Let’s just say that was before I learned the important lesson that you NEVER wait months after you design something to write down the pattern

Anyhow, looking back, I’m actually thankful that I didn’t publish the pattern back then because my picture taking skills were not the best! This month, I remade the entire thing—shawl, pictures, etc. and I love the result so much more!

With that in mind, let me introduce you to the Jadestone Wrap!

This wrap is named after the Jade Stone—mostly because the color yarn I chose ranges from a beautiful light Jade to a deep Jade green. Speaking of yarn, I used Lion Brand Shawl in a Ball. Let me just say, it is one of my absolute favorites for shawl-making! That is what it is designed for, after all. The color ways are just so beautiful. And the best part is (just like the name says) you only need one ball to make a shawl! Be sure to browse all the colors and decided which one you want to use below.

How is it Made?

Before we get into the pattern, let’s talk a few details about this shawl. It is beginner friendly—we’ll just be working back and forth in rows, using simple stitches (double crochets and chains!) Plus, I’ve made a special video tutorial that you can supplement the written pattern with if you’re a visual learner!

• 1 skein of Lion Brand Shawl in a Ball Yarn 
• Or approximately 460 yards of worsted weight yarn
• H/5mm Crochet Hook 
• Yarn needle

Row 1: Work 6 dc in 4th ch from hook, turn (7 dc).

Row 2: Ch 4 (counts as tr), 2 dc in first dc. Dc in next 2 dc. 2 dc in next dc (middle). Dc in next 2 dc. (2 dc, tr) in last st, turn. (10 dc, 2 tr).

Row 3: Ch 4, 2 dc in first tr. Dc in next 3 dc, ch 1, sk next dc, sh in next dc. Ch 1, sh in next dc. Ch 1, sk next dc, dc in next 3 dc. (2 dc, tr) in last st, turn. (10 dc, 2 tr, 2 sh). 

Row 4: Ch 4, 2 dc in first tr. Dc in next 5 dc. Ch 1, sh in middle of next sh (the second dc). Ch 1, sh in next ch-sp. Ch 1, sh in middle of next sh. Ch 1, sk ch-sp, dc in next 5 dc. (2 dc, tr) in last st, turn. (14 dc, 2 tr, 3 sh).

Row 5: Ch 4, 2 dc in first tr. Ch 1, sk next dc, dc in next 6 dc. Ch 1, sk next ch-sp, sh in middle of next sh. Ch 1, sk ch-sp, sh in middle of next sh.. Ch 1, sk ch-sp,, sh in middle of next sh. Ch 1, sk ch-sp, dc in next 6 dc. Ch 1, sk next dc (2 dc, tr) in last st, turn. (16 dc, 2 tr, 3 sh).

Row 7: Ch 4, 2 dc in first tr. Ch 1, sk next dc, dc in next dc, dc in next ch-sp. Dc in all dc up to next ch-sp. (Ch 1, sk ch-sp, sh in the middle of next sh) across all sh. Ch 1, sk ch-sp, dc in all dc until ch-sp. Dc in ch-sp, dc in next dc. Ch 1, sk next dc, (2 dc, tr) in last st, turn. NOTE: all odd rows from this point forward will not increase any shs (just like this row).

Row 8: Ch 4, 2 dc in first tr. Ch 1, sk next dc, dc in next dc, dc in next ch-sp. Dc in all dc up to next ch-sp. *Ch 1, sk next ch-sp, sh in middle of next sh. Rep from * until you reach the center sh. Ch 1, sh in next ch-sp (right before center sh). Ch 1, sh in middle of center sh. Ch 1, sh in next ch-sp (right after center sh). Ch 1 **sh in middle of next sh, ch 1, sk next ch-sp. Rep from ** across the remaining sh. Dc in all dc until ch-sp. Dc in ch-sp, dc in next dc. Ch 1, sk next dc, (2 dc, tr) in last st, turn. NOTE: all even rows from this point forward will increase 2 shs just as this row does!

Rep rows 7-8 for a total of 27 rows. If you would like to adjust the shawl, simply keeping repeating rows 7-8 until it reaches your desired size. Make sure to end on a row 7. 

Fasten off and weave in all ends.

In case you haven’t noticed, I love lace. It is one of my favorite things to design. With the Aspen Shawl, my goal was to create a simple lace pattern in the body of the shawl, and then add an elegant lace showpiece around the edges.

I think it turned out pretty well! Plus, I absolutely love the hand-dyed yarn I used. It is sport weight yarn from Sapphires n Purls, and it’s absolutely gorgeous! I love the colors and the springy feel of the yarn. Click here to see exactly what I used!

If you’ve never made a triangle shawl before, this one would be a great place to start! It uses simple stitches without—just double crochets and chains!

Another great thing about this shawl is that you can easily adjust it to be ANY size you want! There are only 2 rows of the repeating stitch pattern, and you can repeat them as many or as few times as you’d like.
