There’s just nothing like a warm and cozy hat in the winter time—wouldn’t you agree?

This hat in particular works up super fast and you can adjust it to fit anyone!

A Feels Like Butta Yarn Pattern

I got some Lion Brand Feels Like Butta’ Yarn when I was in New York last summer (I got to visit the actual Lion Brand store!)

I held onto this yarn for awhile, not sure exactly what I should make with it. Feels Like Butta’ is a super unique yarn, and I knew it had to be used for the perfect pattern.

I finally decided to use it for a hat—and boy, I was NOT disappointed. This yarn makes for the most cozy and wonderful hat! Not only is it soft, but it also is very warm. Plus, this pattern only takes one skein!

One other note about this hat…it is ADJUSTABLE!! Yes, that means you can make it in any size you want! See the picture below for a kid’s version I made!

One of my testers for this pattern also made a kid version that turned out super cute!

Twilight Beanie – Feels Like Butta’ Yarn Crochet Pattern

Materials:

• 1 skein Lion Brand Feel Like Butta yarn (or worsted weight yarn)
• H Hook
• Yarn needle

Notes:

1. Beanie is started with a band worked lengthwise in rows. Band is then joined to form a circle and hat is worked in rounds.
2. This hat can be adjusted to fit ANY size. Just follow instructions under sizing.

Sizing:

The hat as written is a small women’s size.

Measurements: 9” across the bottom, 9.5” tall.

To adjust beanie: when making the bottom band, simple add or subtract rows in multiples of 4. Try the band around your head until it fits snugly (not too loose). However, note that there MUST be a multiple of 4 rows.  

Abbreviations/Stitches Used:

Chain – ch

Slip Stitch – sl st

Single crochet – sc

Half Double Crochet – hdc

Repeat – rep

Round(s) – rnd(s)

Skip – sk

Stitch(es) – st(s)

Blo – back loop only

Instructions:

Ch 6.

Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across (5 sc) Turn.

Row 2-64: ch 1 (does NOT count as st, here and throughout) sc in blo of each sc across. Turn. TO ADJUST BEANIE: Repeat this row until band fits snugly around your head (measure wherever you want the bottom of the hat to rest on your head). You must have rows in a multiple of 4. Sl st edges of the band together to form a circle. You are now ready to begin the top of the hat.

Rnd 1: You are now working on the side of the band. Ch 1, sc in each row of the band around. (64 sc)

Rnd 2: Ch 1 (does NOT count as st), sc in same st as sl st. Sk 1 st, 3 hdc in next st. *Sk 1 st, sc in next st. Sk 1 st, 3 hdc in next st. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to first sc.

Rnd 3: Ch 1 (does NOT count as hdc), 3 hdc in same st as sl st. Sk 1 st, sc in next st. *Sk 1 st, 3 hdc in sc. Sk 1 st, sc in next st. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to beg hdc. Sl st in next hdc (this 2nd sl st sets up the row repeats).  

Rep rnds 3-4 for a total of 25 rnds (or until hat reaches desired size.

Last row: Sc in each st around. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Finishing: Thread a yarn needle and sew through the last row of hat. Cinch up, and knot. Attach pom-pom if desired.
