Mini Crochet Pineapple Keychain – Free Pattern

Another cute crochet fruit keychain…a pineapple! This crochet pineapple keychain is super simple to make. It’s worked flat, which makes it a much quicker project than most that are 3D. I hope you love the free pattern!

Flat Crochet Pineapple Pattern

Materials Needed:

Aunt Lydia’s Crochet Thread Size 10 (in yellow & green)
F Crochet Hook
Yarn Needle
Keychain (optional)

Notes:

Ch 1 at beginning of rows does not count as a stitch
Pattern is worked with 2 strands of thread held together.

Instructions

Ch 3.

Row 1: 2 sc in second ch from hook and next ch, turn. (4 sc)

Row 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in first st, sc 2, 2 sc in last st, turn. 6 sc)

Row 3: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.

Row 4: Ch 1, sc 2, (Inc) twice, sc 2, turn. (8 sc)

Row 5: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn. (8 sc)

Row 6: Ch 1, sc2tog, sc 4, sc2tog. (6 sc)

Row 7: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn. (6 sc)

Row 8: Ch 1, sc 2, sc2tog, sc 2, turn. 5 sc)

Row 9: Ch 1, sc2tog, sc 1, sc2tog, do not turn. (3 sc)

Border:

Sc in same st as last sc2tog. Sc 6 down side. Inc, sc, inc (this should line up about with the bottom of the pineapple). Sc 7 up other side. Sl st to first sc2tog from Row 9. Fasten off.

Pineapple Top

Hold the pineapple so the right side is facing you. Locate the 3 stitches on the top of the pineapple that you want to make the stem in (you just want it to look as centered as possible). Join green thread with a sc (two strands held together) in the stitch on the right of your 3 stitches. Ch 4. Sc in second ch from hook and next 2 sts. Sc in same space as the very first sc. Sc in next st. Ch 5, sc in second ch from hook and next 3 sts. Sc in same space as first sc. Ch 4. Sc in second ch from hook and next 2 sts. Sc in same space as the very first sc. Fasten off.

Mini Crochet Lemon Keychain – Free Pattern

Another new mini crochet pattern to share today…a cute little lemon! Can I just say, I’ve always loved crochet food. It’s so much fun. So I hope you enjoy this crochet lemon keychain pattern!

Materials Needed:

Aunt Lydia’s Crochet Thread Size 10 (in yellow & green)
F Crochet Hook
Yarn Needle
Keychain (optional)

Notes:

Ch 1 at beginning of rows does not count as a stitch
Pattern is worked with 2 strands of thread held together.

Instructions

Working with 2 strands of the yellow held together, Ch 3.

Row 1: 2 sc in second ch from hook and next ch, turn. (4 sc)

Row 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in first st, sc 2, 2 sc in last st, turn. 6 sc)

Row 3: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.

Row 4: Ch 1, sc 2, (Inc) twice, sc 2, turn. (8 sc)

Row 5: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn. (8 sc)

Row 6: Ch 1, sc2tog, sc 4, sc2tog. (6 sc)

Row 7: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn. (6 sc)

Row 8: Ch 1, Sc2tog, sc 2, sc2tog, turn. (4 sc)

Row 9: Ch 1, (sc2tog) twice. (2 sc)

Border: Sc in same st as sc2tog. Inc in next st down the side. Sc 7 evenly down the side. (Sc, ch 2, sl st in second ch from hook, sc in same st as first sc). Point made – should be in line with the top of lemon. Sc 8 up other side, inc. Sc in top of the same sc2tog, sc in next sc. join with sl st to next sc.

Leaves:

Count 3 sts back from sl st (not including sl st). Join green (still working with 2 strands held together) with a sc in that st. Ch 4. Sc in second ch from hook, dc, sc. Sl st in same st you joined into.

Sc in next st on lemon. Ch 5. Sc in second ch from hook, dc 2, sc. Sl st in same st from the lemon. Fasten off and weave in ends.

And that’s it! I gave this keychain as a present to my teenage sister and she loved it. I hope you love it just as much!

Crochet Ladybug Keychain: Free Pattern

Looking for a quick & easy crochet ornament to make for Christmas? This cute crochet ladybug might be just the thing! It is a great multipurpose project – use it as an ornament OR a keychain!

This ladybug is worked flat, so it goes super fast. I think the most time intensive part is just attaching the spots!

Crochet Ladybug Keychain Pattern

Materials Needed:

Red & Black worsted weight yarn
G crochet hook
Clear glue
Yarn needle

Instructions:

With red, Ch 2.

Rnd 1: 6 sc in second ch from hook.

Rnd 2: Inc in each st around. (12 sc)

Rnd 3: Inc in next sc, sc in next sc. Rep from * around. (18 sc)

Rnd 4: Sl st in each st around. Fasten off red.

Join black with a sc in the st to the right of the knot. Dc in same st. 2 dc in next st. (Dc, sc) in next st.

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Antennas:

Cut 2 pieces of black yarn to the length you want the antennas to be. Use clear glue to form them into an antenna shape; let dry to harden. Then, glue them onto the ladybug.

Spots:

With black yarn, tie a knot. Bring both ends of the knot through to the back of the ladybug, so the knot is on the right side. Tie the two ends in the back, then weave in.

To attach a hanger, you can either use a metal keychain like I did (which makes it multipurpose! Use it as a keychain or an ornament). Or, refer to the video below to attach a yarn hanger.

Miniature Hamburger Crochet Pattern

Materials Needed:

Worsted weight yarn in tan, dark brown, green, yellow, & red
G crochet hook

Cheese

Ch 7.

Row 1: Sc in second ch from hook and next 5 ch. Turn. (6 sc)

Rows 2-5: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn. 6 sc)

Tomato

Ch 2.

Rnd 1: 6 sc in second ch from hook.

Rnd 2: Inc in each st around. (12 sc)

Rnd 3: Inc in next sc, sc in next sc. Rep from * around. (18 sc)

Sl st to next st, fasten off.

Bun (make 2):

Situate the pieces in this order: bottom bun, patty, cheese, tomato, lettuce, top bun. Make sure they are all laying exactly how you want them to look.

Finally, use the last end to weave up and down through all the pieces a few times, until they are all secure in place. Then, tie a knot and weave in the end.

FREE Round Scrubby Crochet Pattern

A simple, easy round scrubby crochet pattern that works incredibly well! This pattern is super fun and it only takes me about 8 minutes to work up.

I’ve been totally into crocheted scrubbies and dishcloths lately. I’m going to be doing some craft fairs for the first time (eek!) so I thought I needed some quick and easy patterns that will hopefully sell well.

One of the patterns I came up with is this round scrubby! I’m hoping these little guys do well at markets. Since they work up so dang fast, they’re great for this purpose.

I’m going to be using a super cool airprint label maker to create care instructions labels for these guys (highly recommend you check out the printer, plus how I make my labels here!)

But they’re also great if you just need a few extra scrubbies in your kitchen too!

How do you crochet a round scrubby?

As the name suggests, round scrubbies will be crocheted in the round, increasing outward to make them larger. For this specific pattern, we will start with a round of double crochet, and then two rounds of simple single crochet.

Like I mentioned, super quick and easy! The only techniques you’ll need to know to make these are simple stitches, working in the round, and increasing.

What material is used to make scrubbies?

Scrubbies can be made from a variety of different yarns and materials. Usually scrubby yarns are made from either cotton, polyester, or nylon.

In the case of this pattern, we will be using a specific yarn called Yarn Bee Scrubology. When I first discovered this yarn, I immediately fell in love! It is a thick, durable scrubby yarn and you can easily see the stitches while you make them – unlike red heart scrubby yarn.

(If you do have some red heart scrubby laying around though, you’ll want to check out this pattern which uses it instead!)

I hope you love these guys as much as I do! But without further ado, let’s get straight into the free scrubby crochet pattern.

Explanation: Quick, easy, and so much fun: round crochet scrubbies! These little guys use a unique yarn and take only about 10 minutes to make. Not to mention, they will work wonders in your kitchen!

Materials:

Yarn Bee Scrubology Yarn (100% nylon, 79 yds / 72 m, 3 oz / 85 g) less than 1 ball Aqua or color of choice
H/5mm crochet hook
Yarn needle
Video Tutorial (if you are a visual learner!)

Notes:

Beginning ch-3 does NOT count as a dc.
Ch 1 at beginning of rounds does NOT count as a sc.
Scrubber is made in joined rounds.

Measurements/Sizing:

Approximately 3” in diameter

Abbreviations/Stitches Used (U.S.)

Chain – ch

Single crochet – sc

Double crochet – dc

Stitch(es) – st(s)

Slip stitch – sl st

Round Scrubby Written Instructions:

Ch 3.

Rnd 1: Make 10 dc in the 3rd ch from hook. Join with sl st in first dc (NOT ch).

Fasten off and weave in ends. Make sure to use a large yarn needle with a blunt tip to make weaving in ends easier with this yarn!

Step by Step Tutorial for Beginners

If you are new to crochet and need some visual help, you’ll want to keep reading! This is a photo tutorial for how to crochet a scrubby step by step.

To start off, make your chain 3. Make 1 double crochet in the third chain from your hook:

Now we are going to make more stitches into that SAME chain space to form a round. Make 9 more double crochet into the same chain so that you have 10 total:

To finish round 1, join with a slip stitch to the first dc you made. Then, ch 1 to start round 2 and make 2 sc in the next dc:

Continue around by making 2 single crochet in every stitch (for a total of 20 stitches).

Join round two with a slip stitch to the first single crochet you made.

Round 3 will be exactly the same as round 2. Ch 1, and make 2 single crochets in every stitch around. This time you will have a total of 40 stitches at the end.

How to start using your scrubbies right away

There you go, your scrubby is all done, and in just 3 rounds too! To get started using these guys, just throw them in your sink for your next dish-washing session. They can be used to get lots of stuff off of even the dirtiest dishes!

One thing you will want to keep in mind is that Scrubology yarn is supposed to be hand-washed and dried flat. So instead of throwing these scrubbies in the washer with your other laundry, you’ll want to find other ways to wash them.

Since handwashing a scrubby isn’t very practical, I tested throwing them in the dishwasher. They held up just fine! After taking them out of the dishwasher, I just wring them out, re-shape them, and let them dry on the counter. Easy and practical!

Conclusion

Round scrubbies are both beautiful and functional in the kitchen. I use mine everyday and you can too! I hope you liked this crochet pattern and have some new scrubbies to make dish-washing more fun.

How do you crochet a Stuffed frog?

This frog is made in the amigurumi style. We will make all the body parts separately, stuff them with poly-fil, and then sew them together at the end. Everything is made from single crochet stitches! You will also need to know a few amigurumi techniques, like the invisible decrease.

Keep in mind that there is also a term in crochet slang called “frogging“—but that is different from crocheting an actual frog.

Felicity Crochet Frog Pattern

Meet Felicity the Frog! Cute and friendly, Felicity is just waiting to be a faithful friend to your daughter or granddaughter. Make her in DK weight yarn, or worsted weight yarn for an even bigger plushie!

DK Weight Yarn: approx. 100 grams green
3.5mm crochet hook
You can also try using worsted weight yarn & a 4 or 4.5mm hook, but the plushie size will vary depending on your tension.

Gauge:

Exact tension and gauge are not critical for this pattern. However, you can always adjust your hook size if need be. For example, if you crochet loosely and you find the amigurumi is looking holey, go down a hook size.

All body parts are crocheted separately and then sewn together according to the finishing instructions.
All parts are made in continuous rounds. Do not join at the end of each round unless otherwise specified.
Turning chain does not count as a stitch.
Place a stitch marker at the end of each round and move it up as you go.

This is a pretty big crochet frog pattern, but if you want to make it even larger, you can use worsted or even bulky weight yarn! That will definitely get you an even bigger, fluffier frog (especially if you use Bernat Blanket yarn!)

FAQ

Can I make this into a small crochet frog?

Yes, absolutely! To make this a mini amigurumi frog, you can use a lighter weight yarn and a smaller hook size. Feel free to get creative!

Is this pattern toddler friendly?

Yes, a crochet frog is a great pattern for a kid or toddler! The only thing to keep in mind for small children is the safety eyes. If you’re concerned about eyes, you can always embroider them on instead of buying them.

What is frogging in crochet?

The term “frogging” is a crochet slang term that has nothing to do with actual frogs. Rather, it means ripping out your crochet work. More info here.

How is amigurumi different from crochet?

Amigurumi is not necessarily different from crocheting—rather, it is a specific crochet technique that involves making stuffed animals and toys. There are a variety of things that have been developed specifically for amigurumi that other crochet projects don’t always use—like the invisible decrease and invisible color change.

1 Hour Easy Crochet Bowl Cozy (Free Pattern)

Looking for a microwaveable crochet bowl cozy pattern? This easy crochet bowl cozy is a quick design that works up in 1 hour and features handles! Get ready for some hot, comforting winter soup once you make this bowl cozy!

Can you put a crochet bowl cozy in the microwave?

The answer to this question is up for debate. Some people say you can put cotton bowl cozies in the microwave, while others say not to risk it.

I personally am fine with putting bowl cozies in the microwave so long as they are 100% cotton. You should never put acrylic yarn in the microwave.

The reason some people are iffy about putting even cotton bowl cozies in the microwave is because of the dyes in the yarn. But I never hear this talked about with fabric (sewn) bowl cozies, which are hugely popular.

If this does bother you, it really isn’t hard to simply microwave your soup and then quickly move it to the bowl cozy.

All that to say, either way it is a judgment call on your part!

What Yarn is Microwave Safe?

Now as I mentioned, as for the make-up of yarn itself (not including the dyes) 100% cotton is the best microwave safe-yarn. 100% wool is also okay to put in the microwave, but this is not as good a choice for bowl cozies.

Can I use acrylic yarn for bowl cozy?

No, do not use acrylic yarn to make a bowl cozy. The reason you shouldn’t use acrylic yarn is that it does not hold up to heat well. It can scorch or even melt if it interacts with too high of temperatures!

How much yarn do I need?

To make these bowl cozies, you’ll need less than 1 skein of 100% cotton yarn!

Crochet Bowl Cozy With Handles

This bowl cozy is made in a circular shape until the very end, where we add square handles! I really do think it is necessary for a bowl cozy to have handles. This makes it much easier to handle and transfer from the stove/counter to the table.

While some cozies have more complicated handles, this design makes the handle in just 1 round! Overall, the pattern is super quick and easy to make.

Explanation: the perfect last minute gift idea: crochet bowl cozies! Made from cotton, these bowl cozies are not only cute, but they can also go in the microwave. And the best part is, they are adjustable for different sized bowls!

Materials:

Lily Sugar ‘N Cream (100% Cotton, 380 yds 347 m, 6 oz / 170 g) less than one skein per bowl cozy
Or any worsted weight 100% cotton yarn
G/4.5mm crochet hook
Yarn needle

Notes:

Bowl cozy is worked in continuous rounds; do not join at the end of each round.
Ch 2 does not count as a dc.

Measurements/Sizing:

5” bottom diameter, 7” top diameter – but easily adjustable.

Bowl cozy will fit most bowls (esp. in the 5-6” range). If you have smaller or larger bowls, follow the adjusting instructions throughout pattern, or change up your hook size.

Adjusting Tip: Here is where you can adjust the finished circumference of the bowl. If your bowl is very small, you can take rounds away. If your bowl is very large, continue the same pattern of increases (add one more sc between each increase until it reaches the right size). Just make sure to end on an ODD NUMBERED round either way.

Rnd 12-15: Sc in each st around. (66)

Adjusting Tip: If you have a taller bowl, add more rounds to the sides here before continuing. For example, on my taller bowl I did 21 rounds total before moving on.

Rnd 16: (2 sc in next st, sc in next 10 sts) 6 times. Sl st to first sc to join. TURN. (72 sc)

Note: if you’ve made any adjustments, just know that your stitch count must be a multiple of 4 in order for Rnd 17 to work out. As long as you ended on an odd numbered row during increases (without making any unique adjustments) you should have no problem.

Rnd 17: Ch 2 (does not count as a st) *(3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next st. Dc in next 17 sts. Rep from * 3 times more. Join with a sl st to first dc. (92 dc, 4 ch-sps)

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Photo Tutorial

Overall, this bowl cozy is pretty straightforward. It starts out by making a large flat circle, then working regular single crochet rounds to make the sides.

But on the last round, we make the handles, and I thought I would include a few photos of this part.

For rnd 17, you’ll start off making a shell—3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc—in the first stitch. Keep in mind that before starting this shell you have to TURN your work. While crocheting this round, you should see the inside of the bowl cozy. This will allow the handles to be facing right side out.

After you turn and make your first shell, you’ll continue in regular double crochet for 17 stitches (second photo shows this started). After that, you have the pattern for the round! Just repeat, shell, 17 single crochet, until you get to the end.

Conclusion

Cozy up with a bowl of soup on a cold winter day when you have a crochet bowl cozy! These cozies work up quickly and make wonderful gift for friends and family (or sellers for craft fairs). I hope you enjoy the pattern as much as I loved designing it!

Elephants have always had a special place in my heart since they are my mom’s favorite animal. Growing up she had a collection of ceramic and glass elephants that I would love looking at.

So this elephant crochet pattern is a tribute to her—she loves the final design and I hope you do too!!

Large crochet Elephant Pattern

This crocheted elephant is a good size stuffed animal, at 8-9″ in height (unlike some of the other elephant patterns out there which result in tiny elephants).

It is made in the amigurumi style, with all the body parts made separately, stuffed, and then sewn together.

I used DK weight yarn but you can use worsted or even chunky yarn if you want an even larger elephant!

Amigurumi Crochet Elephant Pattern

Without further ado, let’s start making this cute amigurumi elephant plush for your stuffed animal collection!

Explanation: An adorable amigurumi project to make: Meet Elsie the Elephant! Elsie can be made from DK or worsted weight yarn, and she would make the perfect plushie for a little girl or boy in your life!

Materials:

DK weight yarn: approx. 100 grams in light gray, and 25 grams in dark gray
3.5mm crochet hook
You can also try using worsted weight yarn & a 4 or 4.5mm hook, but the plushie size will vary depending on your tension.
12-mm black safety eyes (or embroider eyes for children under 3)
Fiber Filling
Yarn needle & stitch marker

Gauge and Tension:

Exact gauge is not critical for this pattern. Keep tension normal—do not work with a loose tension. You can always adjust your hook size if need be. For example, if you crochet loosely and you find the amigurumi is looking holey, go down a hook size.

Notes:

All body parts are crocheted separately and then sewn together according to the finishing instructions.
All parts are made in continuous rounds. Do not join at the end of each round unless otherwise specified.

Large crochet Elephant Pattern

This crocheted elephant is a good size stuffed animal, at 8-9″ in height (unlike some of the other elephant patterns out there which result in tiny elephants).

It is made in the amigurumi style, with all the body parts made separately, stuffed, and then sewn together.

I used DK weight yarn but you can use worsted or even chunky yarn if you want an even larger elephant!

Amigurumi Crochet Elephant Pattern

Without further ado, let’s start making this cute amigurumi elephant plush for your stuffed animal collection!

Materials:

DK weight yarn: approx. 100 grams in light gray, and 25 grams in dark gray
3.5mm crochet hook
You can also try using worsted weight yarn & a 4 or 4.5mm hook, but the plushie size will vary depending on your tension.
12-mm black safety eyes (or embroider eyes for children under 3)
