I’ll be honest…

Fall is my favorite season.

Summer is fun with the hot weather and pool parties. Winter is cozy, snowy, and wonderful around Christmastime.

But you just can’t beat Fall, you know? It has the perfect weather (at least where I live). It’s like you can feel change in the air, literally, as everything starts to cool down.

Ah, so good.

But before I go on too much about why I love fall, let’s talk about crocheting for Fall! Because I love Fall so much, I also love to decorate for Fall. And that’s where this post comes in.

One amazing way you can decorate for the Fall season is by making leaves. This can be just plain crochet autumn leaves, leaf garlands, or other fun leaf-inspired projects!

In this post, I’ll start by sharing 8 fall leaf patterns that are standalone. Think things like maple leaves, oak leaves, etc.

Then, I’ll also show you 7 patterns inspired by autumn leaves—more decor, and some accessories too!

How to Crochet Fall Leaves

You might be wondering, how can you crochet a fall leaf anyway? Well, there actually a lot of different ways!

Most leaves are made like little motifs. They are often a combination of lots of different stitches to get different heights in the leaf. (For example, you might work 2 single crochet, 2 half double crochet, and then 2 double crochet to get a leaf that gradually increases in width!)

However, the truth is it will really depend on the pattern. Some will be worked in ovals, along both sides of the starting chain. Others will be worked in circles.

While all of the following patterns are specifically designed to be autumn leaves, the truth is, you can easily take any leaf pattern and make it for Fall…simply change the yarn color!

Decorate with Fall Leaves

Once you crochet your own Fall leaves, there are plenty of ways you can use them! The most common, of course, is to decorate for Fall with them! Here is what I would do:

• String together a bunch of leaves for a beautiful fun garland
• Place single leaves around the house, or arrange them in a fun pattern with other Fall decor you might have
• Make them into wall art (see the last pattern in this post for inspiration!!)

There’s a few ideas of how to USE your fall leaves once you crochet them!

But first, of course…you have to crochet them, and that’s what this post is for!

Fall Leaf Crochet Patterns

Are you ready to see all the amazing fall leaf patterns? Let’s jump right into the list! Remember, these 8 patterns are for standalone autumn leaves. Then we will move into other patterns inspired by leaves too!

1. Easy Fall Leaves

First up, check out these simple Fall Leaves by Olena from Golden Lucy Crafts. This pattern uses crochet thread to make a small but stunning leaf that is about 1.5″ long. You’ll get to use a variety of simple stitches like single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet! Not to mention, you’ll use slip stitches to make the unique ridge up the center. 2. Happy Autumn Leaves

If you’re looking for some leaves that really show the veins, check out these Happy Autumn Leaves on the Moogly Blog! You can use any autumn leaf color to customize them, and they use post stitches to really show off the classic veins! Get the free pattern here.

3. Simple Crochet Autumn Leaves

If you’re looking for extra simple and easy to make, this next pattern would be perfect. You won’t need to work in the round to make these leaves! Instead, you’ll do 10 quick rows and then a border around it. Find the free pattern right here.

4. Fall Maple Leaf

There’s nothing that quite says ‘Fall’ more than a maple leaf! This maple leaf crochet pattern from the Crafty Kitty Blog is sure to impress! These leaves are made in continuous rounds (no sewing necessary!) and they about measure 6″ long including the stem when they’re done. So yes, I would consider this to be a large crochet leaf pattern! Get the free pattern here.

5. 3 Autumn Leaves Patterns

How about 3 leaf patterns in the same blog post? You’ll get all that and more in this wonderful Autumn Leaves Pattern by Breann from Hooked on Homemade. I love how she made some of them green and some of them in autumn colors. And wouldn’t they all look amazing combined together as a garland? Get the free pattern here.

6. Fall Oak Leaves

Another must when it comes to fall leaves is an Oak Leaf! I was very impressed when I saw this Fall oak leaf pattern by Maria from Pattern Paradise. They are designed with worsted weight yarn, and measure about 5″ long when finished. In addition, you only need to know simple stitches to make them (from slip stitches to triple crochet!) 7. Pumpkin Leaf Crochet Pattern

You may not think of this right off the bat, but another fun leaf for Fall would be a Pumpkin leaf! Crochet pumpkins are ALL the rage during the Fall season, but sometimes the patterns you find don’t include a leaf to go along with them. This pattern by Ambassador Crochet can solve that problem! And, it is really easy to make (you’ll just need to do 2 rounds total!) Get the free pattern here.

8. Autumn Leaves Crochet Banner

Last but NOT least, we have a few more leaf patterns combined into one PDF by Tera Kulling. As you can see, she made hers into a wonderful crochet leaf garland! However, you could easily use these leaves separately as well. They’re very unique, don’t you think? Get the pattern on Ravelry here.

Autumn Leaves Inspired Patterns

Now that we’ve looked at some classic fall leaves, I want to show you some patterns for more Fall decor and accessories…inspired by leaves! I hope you love all these designs as much as I do.

1. Fall Granny Leaves Square

First of all, check out this unique Granny Square that incorporates autumn leaves. All the leaves are put together to form a unique swirl pattern! I love how you can make them all in one color, or use lots of different Fall colors. Tonya from Nana’s Crafty Home did a great job with this design! Get the free pattern here.

2. Autumn Leaves Cowl

Next up is a fun accessory designed by me: the Autumn Leaves Cowl! In this design, I used cluster stitches and chain spaces to form a unique leaf pattern. However, it is the yarn that makes the leaves truly come alive! Aren’t the Fall stripes wonderful? Get the free pattern here.

3. Autumn Leaf Cutlery Pouch

Another unique design incorporating a leaf: a cutlery pouch! I can see this pattern in so many different colors. It uses tapestry crochet to make the leaf, which is brilliant! I think these pouches would look amazing on a Thanksgiving table if you had time to make a bunch of them. Get the free pattern here.

4. Fall Leaves Coaster Crochet Pattern

What better way to decorate for Fall than by making some Crochet Leaf Coasters?! This pattern is so stinkin’ cute, I love it! Best of all, it is super easy and quick to make up. Get the free pattern here!

5. Autumn Bliss Leaves Earrings

Another great way to promote the Fall spirit is by making some crochet leaf earrings! This pattern by Amber from Bliss this is so pretty, don’t you think? You could make these in a whole host of different colors and wear them with so many different outfits! Get the pattern on Ravelry here.

6. Fall Leaves Crochet Scarf Pattern

Next up, another accessory pattern! This one is a corner to corner scarf pattern, with some wonderfully cute Fall leaves added on afterward! Simple, but makes a statement. You could easily make the entire scarf in Fall colors if you wanted to! Get the free pattern here.

7. Autumn Tree & Wind Wall Art

Last, but DEFINITELY note least is this beautiful wall art by Golden Lucy Crafts. I was stunned when I saw this beautiful Fall decor piece! You literally make the skeleton of a tree, and then a ton of little leaves, and put them all together in a pattern like the wind is blowing them. I thought this was such a smart idea, and I might just have to make this for my own house! Get the pattern here. Am I right? Fall is the time when everyone gets out their hooks and searches for just the right pattern. I know I do! And I’ve seen soo many cute Fall decorations this year! In this post I want to share some amazing pumpkin crochet patterns, fall decor, and fall blankets! Hopefully you find your next project.

Harvest Crochet Patterns

When it comes to Fall crocheting, there can be different things that people think of. For example, Thanksgiving falls under the “Autumn” category, but so does Halloween!

In this post, I will mostly be sharing harvest-type crochet patterns. I love using this word to describe it, because it really gives off a certain vibe rather than being so general.

What Should I Crochet in Fall?

There are SO many amazing things you can crochet in the Fall! Here’s just a quick list to get you thinking (don’t worry, I’ll show you tons of specific patterns too!)

• You can crochet Fall decor. Think things like pumpkins, garlands, wreaths, etc., all in cozy Fall colors!
• If you’re up for a bigger project, try a Fall crochet blanket/afghan. This will prepare you for the cold weather season!
• You can also try your hand at an Autumn crochet garment or accessory—something to wear. There is nothing like a cozy crochet scarf or cardigan to dress up a Fall outfit.

Fall Pumpkin Crochet Patterns

I figured a great place to start would be pumpkin crochet patterns! I’m not sure if there is anything represents the word “Fall” better in my mind! As the season of pumpkin spice rolls around (yes, I love all the pumpkin spice goodies!!) crocheted pumpkins are a great addition to the spirit of the season.

So let me show you some of my favorite patterns!

Rustic Pumpkins

First up we have these rustic crochet pumpkins by Meg Made with Love. Aren’t they adorable?! I love how there are 3 different options you can make—one simple, one gingham, and one with post stitches. I might just have to make some if I can find the time.

Pumpkin Basket (By me!)

There are a lots of ways to crochet pumpkins…and one of them is through color work! This crochet basket puts pumpkins all over it just by using single crochets and a few different yarn colors. If you haven’t tried tapestry crochet in the round before, this would be a great pattern to start out with!

Pumpkin Pouf

When I saw this Jack O’ Lantern Pouf, I knew I had to include it! Talk about an big, awesome decoration! Sarah from Repeat Crafter Me used Bernat Blanket Yarn, which gives the pout such a squishy, cozy feel.

Pumpkin Coasters

Another amazing way to incorporate pumpkin décor is to crochet some coasters! If you don’t feel up to making a full round pumpkin, a smaller flat pumpkin is a great option. This pumpkin coaster crochet pattern is super easy to make and comes in 2 variations.

Pumpkin Garland

In contrast to the last pattern, these pumpkins are cute because they’re so tiny and adorable!! Jessica from Mama in a Stitch designed these little guys, and she did such a great job. To crochet your own mini pumpkin garland, you’ll just need small amounts of worsted weight yarn.

Mini Crochet Pumpkins

Make your own mini pumpkin keychains with this free pattern! Aren’t these little guys cute? The pattern comes in two sizes – tiny, and small. LOL.

Pumpkin Backpack

Last but not least in the pumpkin series: a crocheted pumpkin backpack! Wouldn’t this be perfect for trick-or-treating?! I can just see a little kid carrying this around, stuffing it with candy.

Crochet Garments & Accessories for Fall

Of course, pumpkins are not the ONLY Fall projects that are fun to crochet. One of the best times to crochet garments and accessories is in the Fall! I love Fall scarves, cowls, cardigans, etc. because they can be so cozy or also dress up an outfit.

Autumn Leaves Crochet Cowl

First off, check out this cowl pattern that uses crochet lace to form leaves! The Autumn Leaves Cowl is a great addition to a Fall outfit that needs something a little extra to make it dressy. The best part is, this pattern only calls for one ball of yarn, so you can probably make it with yarn from your stash!

Angelica Cardigan

A cozy cardigan is another amazing Fall project you can make. The Angelica Cardigan is one of my favorite garments I’ve ever made! It is SO cozy. While I made it in white, you could use a variety of Fall colors! And if you haven’t crocheted a cardigan before, don’t worry. This pattern is very easy to make.

Knit-Like Cropped Fall Sweater

When I saw this cropped Fall sweater by Itchin For Some Stitchin, I KNEW I had to include it! I know it looks like knitting, but I promise it is crochet! This sweater calls for one of my favorite worsted weight yarns – Lion Brand Jeans. I know this would be a soft, cozy sweater in this yarn!

Rustic Lace Scarf

Another great Fall accessory is this Rustic Lace Scarf! It is made from soft, fuzzy DK weight yarn, and the brown color palette goes perfect with other Fall colors! Best of all, the size is completely adjustable so you can make it perfect for you.

Oversized Crochet Cardigan Pattern

If you like simple patterns with sophisticated elements, you’ll love the Becky Cardigan! This cardigan uses simple stitches throughout the whole design, but then incorporates a stunning puff stitch edging at the end. Because this pattern is extra oversized, it would make a great Fall garment.

Alpine Scarf for Men

Last but not least, I had to show you a Fall scarf pattern for men! The Alpine Scarf is made from a thick textured stitch that makes it extra warm. My boyfriend loves it!

Crochet Fall Home Decorations

Now it’s time to get into some Fall crochet decorations! I know some of the pumpkin patterns we looked at technically were decor…but in this section I wanted to show you decor that is separate from the pumpkin theme.

Fall Inspired Crochet Coasters

Sometimes, to make a crochet project Fall themed, all you need to do is use Fall colors. Alexandra from Eye Love Knots designed these cute, easy coasters that just use simple stitches! The colors make them stunning.

Mornings of Autumn Wreath

I love all of the patterns on Sewrella, but I think this Fall crochet wreath is especially cute. I love how it has the different types of leaves, along with a cute pumpkin in the center!

Fall Acorn Pillow

A pillow is a great way to add a touch of Fall decor to your home—and this Acorn Pillow is no except! It is made from a variety of little granny squares all put together to form an acorn on the front. So creative, right?!

Fall Jar Cover Crochet Pattern

Erica from Highland Hickory Designs has so many amazing Fall patterns! These Fall Jar Covers are no exception. I mean, how cute would this decoration be in your home this year? The best part is, you don’t need to know any color work to complete this pattern. The letters are put on afterward with a sewing needle (and a tutorial is included to help you!)

Candy Corn Key Chain

Ok, so this isn’t exactly decor, but it was so cute, I had to include it! Personally, I love candy corn. I know some people hate the flavor though…if that’s you, maybe this keychain would be perfect! You can get all the cuteness without having to taste a thing

Moonbeam Baskets

Last but not least, check out these Moonbeam Baskets! Made with chunky yarn, these hanging baskets could be a great way to get organized this Fall. They work up SO fast and can hang anywhere in your kitchen!

Fall Crochet Afghan Patterns

Our last category of fall crochet patterns is blankets and afghans. There’s just something to be said for a nice, cozy crochet blanket as the weather cools off. I have 4 patterns to show you that are all unique in their own ways. I hope you love them!

Fall Pumpkin Blanket Pattern

First of all, take a look at this Pumpkin Blanket by Easy Crochet. It is relatively simple to make, yet the colors make such a statement! The designer used Vanna’s Choice Yarn, but you could easily use other worsted weight yarns you have in your stash.

Fall Foliage Crochet Afghan

Talk about a pretty Fall blanket! This Fall Foliage afghan is stunning, don’t you think? If it looks difficult to make, don’t be afraid. It actually only uses simple stitches like half double crochet and double crochet—and the designer includes photo tutorials to help you out too.

Fall Forever Blanket Pattern

Sometimes simple color blocking is all you need to make a statement. This fall crochet blanket is made from simple double crochet, and includes a nice border around the outside. The colors definitely make the blanket! You could do SO many different color combos

Farm Fresh Fall Blanket

Last, but certainly not least, let me introduce you to the Farm Fresh Fall Blanket. Unlike the other blankets I’ve shown you, this one is made from squares! I love all the variety that is included. Some plain squares, some with flowers, some with varying colors. This blanket could be a family heirloom for years!
