Am I right? Fall is the time when everyone gets out their hooks and searches for just the right pattern. I know I do! And I’ve seen soo many cute Fall decorations this year! In this post I want to share some amazing pumpkin crochet patterns, fall decor, and fall blankets! Hopefully you find your next project. 🙂

Harvest Crochet Patterns

When it comes to Fall crocheting, there can be different things that people think of. For example, Thanksgiving falls under the “Autumn” category, but so does Halloween!

In this post, I will mostly be sharing harvest-type crochet patterns. I love using this word to describe it, because it really gives off a certain vibe rather than being so general.

Best Fall Crochet Patterns

What Should I Crochet in Fall?

There are SO many amazing things you can crochet in the Fall! Here’s just a quick list to get you thinking (don’t worry, I’ll show you tons of specific patterns too!)

  • You can crochet Fall decor. Think things like pumpkins, garlands, wreaths, etc., all in cozy Fall colors!
  • If you’re up for a bigger project, try a Fall crochet blanket/afghan. This will prepare you for the cold weather season!
  • You can also try your hand at an Autumn crochet garment or accessory—something to wear. There is nothing like a cozy crochet scarf or cardigan to dress up a Fall outfit.

Fall Pumpkin Crochet Patterns

I figured a great place to start would be pumpkin crochet patterns! I’m not sure if there is anything represents the word “Fall” better in my mind! As the season of pumpkin spice rolls around (yes, I love all the pumpkin spice goodies!!) crocheted pumpkins are a great addition to the spirit of the season.

So let me show you some of my favorite patterns!

Rustic Pumpkins

First up we have these rustic crochet pumpkins by Meg Made with Love. Aren’t they adorable?! I love how there are 3 different options you can make—one simple, one gingham, and one with post stitches. I might just have to make some if I can find the time. 🙂

Pumpkin Basket (By me!)

There are a lots of ways to crochet pumpkins…and one of them is through color work! This crochet basket puts pumpkins all over it just by using single crochets and a few different yarn colors. If you haven’t tried tapestry crochet in the round before, this would be a great pattern to start out with!

Pumpkin Pouf

When I saw this Jack O’ Lantern Pouf, I knew I had to include it! Talk about an big, awesome decoration! Sarah from Repeat Crafter Me used Bernat Blanket Yarn, which gives the pout such a squishy, cozy feel.

Pumpkin Coasters

Another amazing way to incorporate pumpkin décor is to crochet some coasters! If you don’t feel up to making a full round pumpkin, a smaller flat pumpkin is a great option. This pumpkin coaster crochet pattern is super easy to make and comes in 2 variations.

Pumpkin Garland

In contrast to the last pattern, these pumpkins are cute because they’re so tiny and adorable!! Jessica from Mama in a Stitch designed these little guys, and she did such a great job. To crochet your own mini pumpkin garland, you’ll just need small amounts of worsted weight yarn.

Mini Crochet Pumpkins

Make your own mini pumpkin keychains with this free pattern! Aren’t these little guys cute? The pattern comes in two sizes – tiny, and small. LOL.

Pumpkin Backpack

Last but not least in the pumpkin series: a crocheted pumpkin backpack! Wouldn’t this be perfect for trick-or-treating?! I can just see a little kid carrying this around, stuffing it with candy.

Crochet Garments & Accessories for Fall

Of course, pumpkins are not the ONLY Fall projects that are fun to crochet. One of the best times to crochet garments and accessories is in the Fall! I love Fall scarves, cowls, cardigans, etc. because they can be so cozy or also dress up an outfit.

First off, check out this cowl pattern that uses crochet lace to form leaves! The Autumn Leaves Cowl is a great addition to a Fall outfit that needs something a little extra to make it dressy. The best part is, this pattern only calls for one ball of yarn, so you can probably make it with yarn from your stash!

Angelica Cardigan

A cozy cardigan is another amazing Fall project you can make. The Angelica Cardigan is one of my favorite garments I’ve ever made! It is SO cozy. While I made it in white, you could use a variety of Fall colors! And if you haven’t crocheted a cardigan before, don’t worry. This pattern is very easy to make.

Knit-Like Cropped Fall Sweater

When I saw this cropped Fall sweater by Itchin For Some Stitchin, I KNEW I had to include it! I know it looks like knitting, but I promise it is crochet! This sweater calls for one of my favorite worsted weight yarns – Lion Brand Jeans. I know this would be a soft, cozy sweater in this yarn!

Rustic Lace Scarf

Another great Fall accessory is this Rustic Lace Scarf! It is made from soft, fuzzy DK weight yarn, and the brown color palette goes perfect with other Fall colors! Best of all, the size is completely adjustable so you can make it perfect for you.

Oversized Crochet Cardigan Pattern

If you like simple patterns with sophisticated elements, you’ll love the Becky Cardigan! This cardigan uses simple stitches throughout the whole design, but then incorporates a stunning puff stitch edging at the end. Because this pattern is extra oversized, it would make a great Fall garment.

Alpine Scarf for Men

Last but not least, I had to show you a Fall scarf pattern for men! The Alpine Scarf is made from a thick textured stitch that makes it extra warm. My boyfriend loves it!

Now it’s time to get into some Fall crochet decorations! I know some of the pumpkin patterns we looked at technically were decor…but in this section I wanted to show you decor that is separate from the pumpkin theme.

Fall Inspired Crochet Coasters

Sometimes, to make a crochet project Fall themed, all you need to do is use Fall colors. Alexandra from Eye Love Knots designed these cute, easy coasters that just use simple stitches! The colors make them stunning.

I love all of the patterns on Sewrella, but I think this Fall crochet wreath is especially cute. I love how it has the different types of leaves, along with a cute pumpkin in the center!

Fall Acorn Pillow

A pillow is a great way to add a touch of Fall decor to your home—and this Acorn Pillow is no except! It is made from a variety of little granny squares all put together to form an acorn on the front. So creative, right?!

Fall Jar Cover Crochet Pattern

Erica from Highland Hickory Designs has so many amazing Fall patterns! These Fall Jar Covers are no exception. I mean, how cute would this decoration be in your home this year? The best part is, you don’t need to know any color work to complete this pattern. The letters are put on afterward with a sewing needle (and a tutorial is included to help you!)

Candy Corn Key Chain

Ok, so this isn’t exactly decor, but it was so cute, I had to include it! Personally, I love candy corn. I know some people hate the flavor though…if that’s you, maybe this keychain would be perfect! You can get all the cuteness without having to taste a thing 🤪

Moonbeam Baskets

Last but not least, check out these Moonbeam Baskets! Made with chunky yarn, these hanging baskets could be a great way to get organized this Fall. They work up SO fast and can hang anywhere in your kitchen!

Fall Crochet Afghan Patterns

Our last category of fall crochet patterns is blankets and afghans. There’s just something to be said for a nice, cozy crochet blanket as the weather cools off. I have 4 patterns to show you that are all unique in their own ways. I hope you love them!

Fall Pumpkin Blanket Pattern

First of all, take a look at this Pumpkin Blanket by Easy Crochet. It is relatively simple to make, yet the colors make such a statement! The designer used Vanna’s Choice Yarn, but you could easily use other worsted weight yarns you have in your stash.

Fall Foliage Crochet Afghan

Talk about a pretty Fall blanket! This Fall Foliage afghan is stunning, don’t you think? If it looks difficult to make, don’t be afraid. It actually only uses simple stitches like half double crochet and double crochet—and the designer includes photo tutorials to help you out too.

Fall Forever Blanket Pattern

Sometimes simple color blocking is all you need to make a statement. This fall crochet blanket is made from simple double crochet, and includes a nice border around the outside. The colors definitely make the blanket! You could do SO many different color combos 😍

Farm Fresh Fall Blanket

Last, but certainly not least, let me introduce you to the Farm Fresh Fall Blanket. Unlike the other blankets I’ve shown you, this one is made from squares! I love all the variety that is included. Some plain squares, some with flowers, some with varying colors. This blanket could be a family heirloom for years!

One Skein Crochet Projects are the best!

I think my favorite types of crochet projects to make are ones that use just 1 ball of yarn. Not only are they super quick to make, but they also help you use up the yarn in your stash!

You probably have a variety of yarns in your stash that you need one skein patterns for.

One common yarn is Lion Brand Mandala. Have you ever seen a colorway of Mandala that you just can’t live without? Then after buying it, you go searching for one skein mandala patterns? I have totally done that before😂

If you have too, then make sure to keep reading because there are 3 patterns in this list that use Mandala yarn!

Tips for Crocheting with One Ball of Yarn

So now you’ve seen all the amazing one skein patterns…but how about a few more tips for working with just 1 ball of yarn?! Here is what I recommend:

  1. Stick to the yarn weight recommended. If a pattern calls for bulky weight yarn, you’re not going to want to use one skein of DK. Substituting yarns in one skein patterns is okay, so long as you stick to the same yarn weight as the pattern!
  2. Always check yardage. If you DO decide to use a different yarn than the pattern calls for, there’s a good chance it have different yardage. If that is a case, you could end up needing MORE than one ball of yarn, which kind of defeats the purpose! So check yardage at the beginning to make sure you are on track.
  3. Have fun and use up those leftovers! Don’t be afraid to get creative with colors and patterns.

]]> I am soooo excited to share the introduction to an event I’ve been looking forward to for months now: the Mandala Pullover Crochet Along! This event is going to be so much fun, so I hope you’ll join us. Read more below to find out all the details!

The Mandala Pullover Crochet Along is going to be a super fun event spanning over 5 weeks. You definitely don’t want to miss out! Not only does this pattern feature a beautiful color work mandala image, but it is also fully adjustable, meaning you can make it for ANY size!

But What is a Crochet Along?

Just in case you’re new to the idea of a crochet-along, let me briefly explain. Basically, a crochet-along is just an event where we all crochet a project together over a number of weeks. Each week a new stage of the pattern is released. I love crochet-alongs because it is just so much fun to make a project with a group cheering you on in the process!

So let’s talk about this sweater in general a little bit. First of all, the color work. If you’re new to color work, don’t worry! I will be publishing a tutorial that shows you exactly how I did the color changes in this sweater. If you’re a complete beginner, this could be a bit of a challenge, but I think it is definitely still possible! I am always here to answer questions as well 🙂

As far as the mandala itself, there are ENDLESS color possibilities! I have provided a FREE simple coloring sheet that you can download so you can plan the exact colors of yours! This can be found toward the end of this post. First, be sure to read through all the following information about joining!

What Yarn Can I use?

ANYTHING! Yes, I’m serious. You can use absolutely any weight of yarn for this sweater—fingering, sport, DK, or worsted would all work! Here are a few things to consider, however. I recommend using a DK or worsted weight for a women’s sweater, and a lighter weight for a children’s sweater. The key is: you have to be able to fit the mandala image across the body of your sweater. Because a child’s sweater is naturally going to be smaller, you’ll need a lighter weight yarn to get the 54 stitches of the mandala as the right size.

Child’s sweater: fingering, sport or light DK

Women’s sweater: DK or worsted

Overall, you’ll need anywhere from 900-2,000 yards of your main color (depending on the size you make), plus small amounts of the contrasting colors.

How Much does it cost to Join?

NOTHING! Yes, I’m serious, it is completely free to participate in this crochet-along. You can make your sweater following the 5 individual blog posts each week.

What does the Schedule Look like?

Great question! Let’s talk about how this is going to look week-by-week.

The CAL is going to be split up into five weeks total. Each pattern segment will be released on Tuesdays at 1pm PST. Here is an outline of what will be released each week (this is especially important if you don’t choose to upgrade to the PDF!)

WEEK 1: Buy your yarn, download the Simple Mandala Coloring sheet to decide on your colors, and join the community (more info on these things below!)

WEEK 2: Make the Back Panel

WEEK 3: Begin Front panel up until 1/2 of the color work

WEEK 4: Finish the color work and front panel

WEEK 5: Make the sleeves, and assemble

So that’s an overview of what we will be doing each week! Of course there will be LOTS more details in each individual post, so make sure you’re ready next Tuesday for part 1!

The Community

Now, one of the BEST parts of a crochet-along is the community that it fosters. You’re not just crocheting by yourself, but with a group of other excited participants! With that being said, there are several community aspects of this cal.

First of all, you can join my Facebook group! This is a great place to share progress, ask questions, and more!

That being said, the second community aspect of the CAL is Instagram! Be sure to follow me and post lots of pictures.

I’m In! How do I join?

Whew! That was a lot of info, so here is a summary of what you can do right now to join the CAL.

  1. Download the Simple Mandala coloring sheet to decide what color you want to use for your sweater! (click the button below this list).
  2. Buy your yarn! You can use ANY yarn for this pattern, but I recommend using a worsted or DK weight for a women’s sweater, and fingering or sport weight for a child’s sweater.

Feeling stressed by the timeline? Don’t worry, this CAL is super easy going, and you don’t have to feel ANY pressure to keep up with the group! If you need to go at your own pace, that is totally fine. We want you to enjoy this project, and also enjoy the community it stimulates. If you want to be apart of the community but you’re afraid you can’t keep up, don’t let that stop you from joining! We would still love to have you.

If you are totally booked and can’t commit at all, that is fine too. You can totally make this pattern at a different time. Be sure to save it in your Ravelry Queue or pin it to your Pinterest Boards so you don’t forget! 😉

It also helps everyone involved benefit the greatest. Then the designers AND me, as the host, will get ad money when you visit our website.

So: Here is a breakdown of what you’ll need to do each day once the event starts.

  1. Come to this roundup post. Scroll down until you see the pattern of the day.
  2. Click on the crochet pattern link for the designer of the day.
  3. This link will take you to their website, which will in turn have a link that allows you to download the pdf for free on Ravelry!
  4. Each PDF will be available only 24 hours, so make sure to check back each day!
  5. After this week is over, the next patterns will be featured on the Salty Pearl Crochet blog! So you will repeat the same steps, but on a different blog.
