30-Minute Trivet – Hot Pad Crochet Pattern (Free!)

Introducing…the 30 Minute Trivet Crochet Pattern! This hot pad crochet pattern might just be exactly what your kitchen needs this summer.

I think I have a problem with finishing patterns WAY long after I start them.

I say that because I started making this pattern a LONG time ago, like over a year!

Back then, I was attempting to make some kind of pillow cover, and honestly, the idea just flopped.

Fast forward to a few months ago, when I needed some extra summer crochet patterns. I found this old WIP in a random box and realized the hidden potential that it had had all along!

That’s right, I just had to take out a few rows, and then there was the trivet, already made for me! 🤣Needless to say, everything worked out in the end. And I’m happy I can now share the 30-minute trivet with you today—a free hot pad crochet pattern!

Hot Pad Crochet Pattern: the 30 Minute Trivet

The Yarn

For this pattern, you’ll want to choose a bulky, #6 weight cotton yarn. I used a Lion Brand yarn I had in my stash. You can imagine my disappointment when I went to grab a link from their website and found that it was discontinued!

So unfortunately, you can’t get the same yarn I used—but any bulky weight cotton yarn should work just fine! Here’s an example of a substitution that could work.

How it’s Made

Before we get to the pattern, let’s talk a little bit about how this trivet is made.

You might notice that it is a big “motif” resembling a snowflake or a flower. To achieve this effect, we will work in the round!

There are only 6 rounds in the pattern, which makes this pattern soooo dang quick to make.

Thus the name: the 30-Minute Trivet! 😉
