Flat Crochet Pineapple Pattern

Materials Needed:

• Aunt Lydia’s Crochet Thread Size 10 (in yellow & green)
• F Crochet Hook
• Yarn Needle
• Keychain (optional)

Notes:

• Ch 1 at beginning of rows does not count as a stitch
• Pattern is worked with 2 strands of thread held together.

Instructions

Ch 3. 

Row 1: 2 sc in second ch from hook and next ch, turn. (4 sc)

Row 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in first st, sc 2, 2 sc in last st, turn. 6 sc)

Row 3: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn. 

Row 4: Ch 1, sc 2, (Inc) twice, sc 2, turn. (8 sc)

Row 5: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn. (8 sc)

Row 6: Ch 1, sc2tog, sc 4, sc2tog. (6 sc)

Row 7: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn. (6 sc)

Row 8: Ch 1, sc 2, sc2tog, sc 2, turn. 5 sc)

Row 9: Ch 1, sc2tog, sc 1, sc2tog, do not turn. (3 sc)

Border:

Sc in same st as last sc2tog. Sc 6 down side. Inc, sc, inc (this should line up about with the bottom of the pineapple). Sc 7 up other side. Sl st to first sc2tog from Row 9. Fasten off. 

Pineapple Top

Hold the pineapple so the right side is facing you. Locate the 3 stitches on the top of the pineapple that you want to make the stem in (you just want it to look as centered as possible). Join green thread with a sc (two strands held together) in the stitch on the right of your 3 stitches. Ch 4. Sc in second ch from hook and next 2 sts. Sc in same space as the very first sc. Sc in next st. Ch 5, sc in second ch from hook and next 3 sts. Sc in same space as first sc. Ch 4. Sc in second ch from hook and next 2 sts. Sc in same space as the very first sc. Fasten off.

Point made – should be in line with the top of lemon. Sc 8 up other side, inc. Sc in top of the same sc2tog, sc in next sc. join with sl st to next sc. 

Leaves:

Count 3 sts back from sl st (not including sl st). Join green (still working with 2 strands held together) with a sc in that st. Ch 4. Sc in second ch from hook, dc, sc. Sl st in same st you joined into. 

Sc in next st on lemon. Ch 5. Sc in second ch from hook, dc 2, sc. Sl st in same st from the lemon. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Crochet Ladybug Keychain Pattern

Materials Needed:

• Red & Black worsted weight yarn
• G crochet hook
• Clear glue
• Yarn needle

Instructions:

With red, Ch 2.

Rnd 1: 6 sc in second ch from hook. 

Rnd 2: Inc in each st around. (12 sc)

Rnd 3: Inc in next sc, sc in next sc. Rep from * around. (18 sc)

Rnd 4: Sl st in each st around. Fasten off red. 

Join black with a sc in the st to the right of the knot. Dc in same st. 2 dc in next st. (Dc, sc) in next st. 

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Antennas:

Cut 2 pieces of black yarn to the length you want the antennas to be. Use clear glue to form them into an antenna shape; let dry to harden. Then, glue them onto the ladybug.

Spots:

With black yarn, tie a knot. Bring both ends of the knot through to the back of the ladybug, so the knot is on the right side. Tie the two ends in the back, then weave in.

To attach a hanger, you can either use a metal keychain like I did (which makes it multipurpose! Use it as a keychain or an ornament). Or, refer to the video below to attach a yarn hanger.

Miniature Hamburger Crochet Pattern

Materials Needed:

• Worsted weight yarn in tan, dark brown, green, yellow, & red
• G crochet hook

Cheese

Ch 7.

Row 1: Sc in second ch from hook and next 5 ch. Turn. (6 sc)

Rows 2-5: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn. 6 sc)

Tomato

Ch 2.

Rnd 1: 6 sc in second ch from hook. 

Rnd 2: Inc in each st around. (12 sc)

Sl st to next st, fasten off. 

Bun (make 2):

Finishing:

Situate the pieces in this order: bottom bun, patty, cheese, tomato, lettuce, top bun. Make sure they are all laying exactly how you want them to look.

Finally, use the last end to weave up and down through all the pieces a few times, until they are all secure in place. Then, tie a knot and weave in the end.

This week, I was having two 10-year old girls over for crochet lessons. I started brainstorming a project we could make in our short time together – when you’re just starting I think it is such a boost of confidence to actually finish a cute little project!

Since Christmas is just around the corner, I came up with these gift ornaments. They’re perfect for beginners because they’re just a simple little rectangle with a bow.

Both 10 year old girls made this pattern successfully (in fact, their finished projects are the pictures you’re seeing in this post!)

So, I’m pretty confident you will be able to make them too.

There are ENDLESS color combos you can use for these little guys! Both the girls selected their colors all by themselves – didn’t they turn out great?

Without further ado, let’s get straight to the crochet pattern!

EASY Crochet Present Ornament Pattern

Materials:

• Any worsted weight yarn in 2 contrasting colors
• I used Red Heart Super Saver and Loops & Threads Impeccable
• H/8 5mm crochet hook
• Hot glue gun

Notes:

1. Chain 1 at beginning of rows does not count as a stitch

Measurements: 

Approx 1″ long by 2″ high

Abbreviations/Stitches Used (U.S.) 

Chain – ch

Single crochet – sc

Stitch(es) – st(s)

Written Instructions

Gift Box:

Ch 9.

Row 1: Sc in second ch from hook and each ch across. Turn. (8 sc)

Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each st across. Turn. (8 sc)

Repeat row 2 until you have a total of 6 or 7 rows (because tension varies, sometimes 6 rows looks big enough. Tighter crocheters might want to do 7 rows. Just go off of what looks best to you!)

Ribbon:

Take a long piece of yarn in a contrasting color. Tie a knot in the center, then tie a bow on top of that knot. Pull tight, adjust to get it exactly how you want it, trim the ends, etc.

Lastly, warm up a hot glue gun. Put a dot of hot glue on the back of the bow, then affix to the top of the present.

And that’s it! If you’re an experienced crocheter, these tiny crochet ornaments will take you probably 10 minutes to make.

If you’re a beginner, it may take a bit longer, but that is all part of the learning process! Either way I hope you love this quick little pattern.

Creating Tiered Crochet Trees

These crochet trees are very simple to make. I designed them using single crochets with simple increases, working from the point of the trees down.

However, they don’t stop with a simple cone shape. Instead, I wanted to create some tiered trees as well!

You’ll see that you can combine the different cone sizes to make a variety of tiered trees, which looks much like classic Christmas tree decorations.

Tabletop Crochet Christmas Trees for Decoration

Without further ado, let’s get right to the crochet pattern.

Video Tutorial:

Explanation: Make a cute forest of crocheted Christmas trees for your decor this year! These 3D crochet trees can be made in practically any size. They feature tiers that can be easily mixed and matched to make a variety of different looking trees!

Materials: 

• Red Heart Super Saver Yarn (100% Acrylic, 364 yds / 333 m, 7 oz / 198 g) 1 skein in your desired green color 
• You can use any worsted weight yarn, but a stiffer “value” yarn works best so the trees hold their shape. 
• 4.5mm crochet hook (or adjust based on your tension)
• Yarn needle

Gauge: 

Height after 10 rounds: approx. 2”

Exact gauge is not critical for this pattern. I provide this measurement as a guide if you would like your trees to turn out approximately the same size as mine.

Notes:

1. Trees will be worked in different sized tiers that are sewn together. Each tier is made from the top down, in joined rounds. This is to keep the bottom fully even. There will be a seam across the back of the trees.
2. Pattern will begin with the largest tree tier; this is the basic repeating pattern that will be used in all tiers. From there the pattern will specify how many rounds you need to do to get the other sized tiers.
3. Ch 1 at beginning of rounds does not count as a single crochet.
4. You will notice the second round specifies to pull the joining slip stitch tight. This is because it will help the joining area look neater. Continue to pull the slip stitch tight for all the rounds.

Measurements/Sizing: 

Small 3-tier tree: 4.5” tall

Large 3-tier tree: 7” tall

Small 1 tier tree: 2.75” tall

Medium 1 tier tree: 3.5” tall

Large 1 tier tree: 5.5” tall

There are patterns for 6 different sized tiers included. These will be used to make the 1-tier and 3-tier trees. This is illustrated in the photo below.

Many Christmas tree squares on the internet are granny square tree squares. While I do have a granny themed Christmas pattern coming soon (keep a lookout) I decided to go a different direction with these squares: tapestry crochet!

That’s right, these squares are worked in all single crochet stitches, and the trees are formed through colorwork alone.

I’m quite pleased with the outcome – I hope you are too!

Crochet Tree Square Pattern

Christmas always comes before you know it! Get started on a quick Christmas crochet project early and make these cute tree trivets. They work great for holding hot pans, or you could even sew a bunch of squares together into a blanket!

Materials: 

• I Love This Cotton Yarn (100% Cotton, 180 yds / 164.6 m, 3.5 oz / 1559 g) 1 skein Parchment (color A), 1 skein Brown (color B),  and 1 skein Sage (color C). Feel free to substitute other cotton yarns.
• G/3.5mm crochet hook (or adjust based on your tension)
• Yarn needle

10 sc = 2”

9 rows = 2”

Gauge is only necessary if you would like your trivet to turn out the exact same size as mine.

Notes:

1. Starting from the bottom of the pattern, we will start with 34 chs plus a turning chain. You will turn your work after finishing each row. 
2. For the chart included, each square is 1 sc. You will read the chart from left to right and turn your work after finishing each row.

4. The trivet is made with tapestry crochet. As we switch colors, we will be carrying the unworked white yarn over to the other side of the row. Our green and brown unworked colors can float on the wrong side of our work until we need them for the next row.
