Crochet Gifts for Mom to Make Her Feel Special
With Mother’s Day quickly approaching, it is time to be thinking about the perfect gift! When it comes to crochet gifts for mom, there are so many wonderful things you can make. Today I want to show you some of my favorite patterns.

Mother’s Day Gifts/Birthday Gifts
My mom is one of my favorite people to crochet for…and for one particular reason…she’s the easiest! It can be so hard to find good crochet gifts for men or gifts for teenage guys. But there are a plethora of amazing gifts for women.
The patterns I will be showing you today are great for any occasion—mother’s day, Christmas, or a mom’s birthday!

What should I crochet for my mom?
It really depends on what she likes best! There are tons of options, but here are a few ideas to get you thinking:
- a practical gift like a scrubby, dishcloth, or set of baskets
- a beautiful garment or shawl
- a bouquet of flowers that will never die
Of course, there are tons of patterns out there for all of those things! I have lots to show you today, all in the realm of crocheting. Of course, you can also branch out and try other crafts, like a handmade origami flower.
But for the purposes of this article, I have split the gifts up into 3 categories. If you are most interested in one of them, use the table of contents below to skip to it.

Practical Gifts
Let’s start out by looking at a bunch of practical gifts! If your mom likes gifts that can be put to use in the home, then these will be perfect.
Round Kitchen Scrubby
First of all, take a look at this Round Kitchen Scrubby. I have to say, this is one of the best quick gift ideas for mom I can think of. It is just a simple crocheted circle, but made with a special scrubby yarn that is sure to last a long time.

Double Crochet Dishcloth
Next up, the Double Crochet Dishcloth! If you have some cotton yarn in your stash that needs using up, a dishcloth for mom is one of the best things you can make. This particular pattern just uses simple double crochet, with a crab stitch border.
Yarn Used: Lily Sugar ‘N Cream

Sunflower Coasters
Does your mom love bright sunflowers as home decor? If so, then this Sunflower Coaster is a must-have! You can easily whip up a set of 3 or 4 in a few days. You’ll just need some worsted weight yarn to get started. These were particularly popular among moms at the last craft show I did!
(In fact, a lot of these patterns are good for selling at craft shows. You can find tips for making money crocheting here if you’re interested in doing things like this!)

Another great kitchen scrubby pattern to try is this Square Dish Scrubber. I love this pattern because it uses Red Heart Scrubby yarn. I’ve made this as a gift for my mom in the past, and she loves it! It is super useful and functional. Great for cleaning extra grit and grime off of dishes!

Hanging Baskets
If your mom loves kitchen organization, these Moonbeam Hanging Baskets are a great gift idea! They work up very quickly with bulky weight yarn, and feature a pretty half-double-crochet cluster stitch. Make just one or a whole set to use around the house!

Flower Coasters
Next up, meet the Forget-Me-Not Coasters. I love these coasters because they are still round, but feature a flower in the the center. You can easily make a stunning set by choosing your mom’s favorite colors and alternating them between the flower and the lace portion!

Soap Saver
An extremely practical gift to make is a Soap Saver! This is literally my new favorite practical crochet project. You just stick your bar of soap in there, and it saves the shower becoming a sticky mess with soap residue! Isn’t that neat?

Seaside Mug Rug
A fun twist on the classic coaster…meet the Seaside Mug Rug! With a stunning lace shell and cute little fringe, these mug rugs are definitely a stand-out home decor piece. Once again, I would recommend making these in your mom’s favorite color.

Blue Skies Dishcloth
Last but not least in the practical section, we have the Blue Skies Dishcloth! This dishcloth is a bit more unique, with pretty v-stitches spaced throughout it. Make it to match your mom’s kitchen! You could even add a second color if you wanted to customize it even more.

Wearable Gifts
I know some moms don’t appreciate getting practical gifts on Mother’s Day. They might prefer something that she can wear, something that is tailored (no pun intended!) to her taste. If so, these patterns will be just what you need!
Alicia Ear Warmer
First up, take a look at the Alicia Ear Warmer. If your mom is a big headband fan, she’ll love this! The design features 3 mini twisted cables that are cinched together at the front. This ear warmer has been a best seller at many crocheters’ craft shows!

Two-Toned Srunchies
If you want something wearable that is super quick, try out these Two-Toned Scrunchies. I just sold a scrunchie to a girl at my church who wanted one for her mom! Eva Rectangular Shawl
Is your mom a shawl-lover? If so, the Eva Rectangular Shawl might be right up her alley. This is a rectangle shawl that is SUPER EASY to make. It just uses simple stitches (chains, single crochet, and double crochet). Plus, even though it looks large, it uses bulky weight yarn to make the process go fast!

Lunar Lace Tunic
This is something I designed specifically for my mom: the Lunar Lace Tunic. This is a longer project, but it is definitely worth it. Featuring a pretty open-work stitch, it is a perfect spring top to give to your mom at Mother’s Day. Just make sure you know her measurements before starting!

Dragonfly Shawl
Another shawl that makes a great gift is the Dragonfly Shawl. This is your perfect one-skein wonder! You’ll just need one cake of Bernat Pop Yarn (or another medium to bulky weight). I do love how a self-striping yarn looks in this design though.

Uniquely Thoughtful Gifts
Lastly, I want to show you some unique gift ideas that just seem extra thoughtful. Some of them are individual patterns, and others combine a host of patterns to make one cute idea! You’ll see what I mean soon.
Bouquet of Flowers
My first idea is to form a unique bouquet of crocheted flowers for your mom! You can do this by finding patterns for your mom’s favorite flowers and combining them in one vase. One pretty flower I found is this Lily of the Valley.

Here are a few more 3D flowers that would go great in a bouquet:
Spa Set
If you liked the quick gifts from the first section of this post, but want to make them seem extra special, one idea is to make a spa set! I made these for a craft show and they looked so pretty (see below).
All I did was make 2 face scrubbies, 1 washcloth, and 1 soap saver in coordinating colors. Then, I used cellophane to wrap it up in a beautiful way!

Flower Pot
If your mom likes REAL flowers, another cool idea is to make a Flower Pot with a plant inside. This pattern is by Cheryl from Crochet 365 Knit Too. Doesn’t it look just adorable?
Yarn Used: Any worsted weight

Stellar Mandala
One last idea is to make a beautiful piece of wall decor for your mom. This Stellar Mandala is a great example of that. It features giant lace pineapples that are sure to draw attention!
Yarn Used: We Crochet Gloss Lace
